About
This blog is the beginnings of what I hope to be a site chock full of information for struggling moms like myself. Here’s a little bit of background on me, so you can see where I’m coming from.
My name is Kristy, and I am a freelance writer with a husband and school-aged daughter. I left my factory job in 2006 to try to get started working from home, but things didn’t quite work out as planned. So I rejoined the work force a few months later, taking a huge pay cut from what I had become accustomed to. It became necessary to keep a close eye on spending, and I started this blog to hold myself accountable and share tips with others in similar situations.
I started getting some steady writing work in the spring of 2007, and a few months later was able to quit my day job to write full-time. But Hubby experienced some health problems and was unable to work for a time, and penny-pinching became even more crucial. Things are starting to look up somewhat, and I am hopeful that the future holds great things. But I’m still trying to save money where possible. Today it’s so that we can make ends meet. Maybe soon it will be so we can build a nest egg and start saving for Pumpkin’s college fund.
